Voluntary (Employee Paid) Life and AD&D

Voluntary Supplemental Life/AD&D Insurance is additional insurance you can purchase for yourself, spouse, and/or child(ren) at group rates. You have a unique opportunity to protect your future purchases by electing the minimum of $10,000 of employee coverage up to the guarantee issue amount of $200,000 (up to age 65).

If you waive this coverage during your initial new hire enrollment period and elect to enroll in this coverage at a later annual enrollment, you will be required to complete Evidence of Insurability (EOI) medical underwriting and can be denied coverage.

Spouse Guarantee Issue Amount is equal to 50% of employee's elected amount up to $50,000 with no medical questions (EOI). As this benefit is provided through your employer, you and the employee are automatically the beneficiary of your dependents coverage.

Naming Beneficiaries

Naming a beneficiary is a crucial part of life insurance and financial planning. A beneficiary is the person or entity you designate to receive the life insurance payout after your death. You can name more than one beneficiary, and beneficiaries can include individuals, churches, charities, and family trusts.

Beneficiaries can been added or edited in ADP.

Types of Beneficiaries

There are two main types of beneficiaries:

1. Primary Beneficiaries These are the first in line to receive the life insurance payout. They receive 100% of the benefits if they are alive at your time of death.

2. Contingent Beneficiaries These beneficiaries receive the payout only if no primary beneficiaries are alive to receive the money.

Special Considerations for Minors

Children under 18 cannot legally manage their own money. Therefore, it is advisable not to name minor children as beneficiaries directly. Instead, consider the following options:

2. Legal Guardian Designate the legal guardian of your children (as specified in your will) as the beneficiary. If you do not have a will, it is important to create one).

2. Trust Establish a trust to manage the funds for your children and name the trust as the beneficiary.

Employer-Paid Disability insurance

Disability insurance protects your income in the event you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. Short-term coverage typically lasts for a few months, while long-term coverage can extend until retirement, ensuring you have financial support during recovery. Short and Long Term disability are provided at no cost to you.

You will find your benefit amount when you enroll in ADP's enrollment module.
